Hello, I'm Tina Tower and you're listening to Her Empire Builder. For my first decade of business I thought grinding and hustling and working harder than everyone else was my path to success. It was pretty successful by a lot of measures, but it led to burnout and adrenal fatigue. Then, when I travelled around the world on my family gap year, I discovered the simplicity and the reach of online business, and I completely fell in love.

You have so much knowledge and expertise that's within and I want to help you to package that so you can also help to lift others up. So, how do you build a thriving million-dollar business based on everything that's in your mind? This is Her Empire Builder, the podcast.

Hello, hello. Welcome to Cocktails and Coaching. I am so sorry. I am late today for people that are tuning in live. My sincere apologies if you came on at four o'clock and wondered where I was. So, I am at the University of New South Wales today at a business conference and it is my first time doing a book signing, and so, I was pretty excited.

I've tried to find a place out of the wind here. If you're watching, hi Lauren, can you just let me know if you can hear me okay with that wind blowing if I'm, I'm literally standing inside a garden, because this is where, where the place was that I could get out of the wind, but I'm going to see if I can kind of get, get a little bit more.

So, if I'm, if I'm sounding alright, can you just let me know in the comments there, so that I can see that, and then I can keep going, which is good.

Okay, so today, what I wanted to talk about was going in sprints, because that's what I'm doing at the moment, and it has some really valuable lessons that I wanted to share. So, today, as I said, I've just done my first book signing, live, which I'm super, super excited about. Lynne’s just come on. Hi Lynne. I actually signed your book yesterday and sent it off to you, so that's on the way. Lauren, yours is on the way too.

Yes. So, I'm really excited today. Probably a little bit over excited and had to kind of concentrate on gee-ing down a little bit, so I wasn't just bubbling over the top of everybody, but you know what, sometimes we do things that are just so bloody exciting, and today was the first time that I have seen my book in other people's hands, and I have been totally not cool about it. You know, people are getting signed books and then asking for photos and being like, “You know, sorry to bother you.”, I’m like, “Oh my god, you know how cool this is?” I mean, when you work on something like this for, for such a long time and kind of put your heart and your soul into it and everything out there, to actually see that going at is just, it's, it's amazing. It's amazing.

Anyway, so let me know. What has been the highlight of your week? The highlight of my week has been watching this book in people's hands, which has been super exciting. Let me know what yours is in the comments. Highlight of your week, best part, go in there, and then while that's coming through, I want to talk to you about going in sprints. So, from an energy point of view, when we're operating a business, I know it can be super tempting to want to sprint all the time, because there's opportunities that come up, there's all different things that are going on, and we want to say yes to all of those things, but what happens is if you're sprinting constantly without a break, then you just get massive, massive burn out. Only one thing happens there, and so I like to run the business in a series of sprints rather than like an endless marathon because, I mean, who wants to run a marathon, but when it comes time to sprinting in business, that's when your systems come in handy.

So, a little bit of an example was, was for me this morning. So, the last 24 hours, I have kind of lost my head. I'll be honest, I have lost my head a little bit. So, yesterday we were sitting there, and I was going, “Alright.” So, over the next few weeks, I'm doing book launches in seven different cities, quite a few different bookstores. I'm going on The Today Show on Monday, which is crazy. I've got so many different radio interviews and media interviews and all of these different things, that I was kind of in this spot yesterday morning where I was going, you know, when you just got overwhelmed with so much stuff that, like, I don't even know what I'm supposed to do next. Like, I know there is so much to do, but I'm losing my mind a little bit, and that is kind of where I was up to yesterday, and then I had to thank “months ago Tina” for looking after “future Tina”, because I knew that it was 100% likely that I was going to lose my head at this point in the game, because I knew this was going to be the first time since I'd come back from my trip where I had to truly sprint again, and it's something I used to do in my business all the time, but I haven't had to do it for a while.

So, a couple of months ago, when I was very calm, I created all of the systems and all of the procedures that I can then use in the sprint, and so when it came time for, at the moment we're in Sydney, and I knew I was coming to book signing, and then going (oh, the winds coming up. Hopefully that's not affecting the sound too much) I knew I was going to book signing and then I've got a party tomorrow night in Sydney, and then I'm speaking at a business conference and then I head straight to The Today Show, so I'm not home for the next four days, and so, usually I'd be like, “What else do I need? Oh!”, but I had that list all done, all taken care of, and that's what I want you to think about in your business now, is, “What are those sprints that you know you have coming up, and how can, when you're at a place of calm and when you're making these big massive plans, can you look after your future self by preparing for that now?”

So by making those lists so that when you inevitably, you know, lose your mind a little bit, because of the, I don’t know, the, the sheer bigness of the things that you're doing, how can you look after yourself by, by lessening that sort of pressure on you?

So, you know, I cleared my schedule of a lot of different things. I prepared, I prepared for this, this month. I knew this month, it was going to be nothing but One Life, and so I want you to be able to do that and really, really create that space and work there. So, is that something that you do in your business? Let me know in the comments now. Are you looking after your future self? So, with whatever you're planning, and at the moment, you know, we're probably planning a bit of a sprint to the end of the year. We're probably planning a bit of a break, maybe in January, and then, what will happen is in January, when you've got time and space and beautiful white space in your brain, you’ll come up with a lot of amazing ideas of things that you're going to do next year, and so when you come up with those plans, what I want you to do at the same time, is I want you to make those lists and procedures so that when you get into those really busy periods, you've done a lot of the groundwork and a lot of the creative work, so that when you're in that stage, all you have to do is actually follow your own instructions. Just follow your own plan, so you know that, you know, you don't have to think about all the things that you’ve forgotten or what you're doing next.

Does that make sense? Is that helpful at all? Very quiet today with the comments here. Talk to me, people. Hi Rochelle. Hi Lisa. How are you going? Alright, so nobody has let me know their highlight of the week. Surely, we had highlights this week. Let me know, what are you working on?

Okay, so that is my little rant about looking after your future self and going in sprints, not a nonstop marathon. So, pop in the comments what business questions have you got today? Have you got any burning questions? Anything that's going on in your business that you'd like any feedback, on let me know. I'm starting to get really sore arms. I, usually I do this on my computer, but today I'm out and about my phone and that is why I'm a little late on today, is I had so many people lining up to get books signed, which, you know, was so cool. So cool. I wish I could be like, blasé about it, but I'm not. I'm not at all.

So, Stacey's highlight of the week. She survived week one of managing 290 in a Facebook group. So, Stacey has, I actually, I should get you on the podcast Stacey. Stacey just launched her first ever online course and got, like, 300 people, in the first round. Incredible, incredible results. So yeah, Stacey, expect an email from me. I’m coming at you, because I want to be able to share what you did with other people there as well.

So, anyone got any business questions? Okay, so Lynne said, “I always imagine (this is very different on my phone. Sorry, bear with me for a second. It's just coming up. It's cut off your comment halfway through Lynne) It says, “I always imagine all the steps that I would do for projects, conversations, etc. Still getting the discipline to write it.”, and that's the thing. It is discipline. So when you are in the space where, you know, you're making plans and everything's really calm, that's the time to systemise things, so that when business does get really busy, and when life does get really busy, you have that as a fallback. I mean, I know if I didn't have packing lists, if I didn't have, you know, even today when it came time to set up a stand for book signings, I used my old checklist that we used to have when I ran tutoring centres and we used to run expos, because it's all like the same stuff, and so I got that and I didn't have to think, “Oh my gosh, have I missed anything, what do I need?”, because that feeling and forgetting things is horrible. Like, I'm sure if I didn't have that, I would have forgot a charger or would have forgot something.

Shannon wrote her first blog and bio. Working on developing her Kajabi site today. Good work Shannon.

Oh, Stacey's going to see me tomorrow night at the party we're going to. Awesome.

Lynne has said, “No big business win, but personally I won a champion prize for my picture embroidery and weaving.” Well done, that’s awesome Lynne.

Any business questions? No one's hitting me up with business questions today. Anything that you’re working on that you want any input on or anything like that? What have we got? Everyone's just so sorted with so many things, which is so wonderful.

Alright, well, I'm going to walk back over this way while it's still going. I'm walking around the grounds at the moment of New South Wales Uni and it's gorgeous, but the wind is strong and hot today. Okay, no more business questions? Nothing coming through?

Okay, well, I have two big bits of news actually. I mentioned before, The Today Show. So, I'm on The Today Show on Monday. So, for those of you listening live, if you tune into Channel Nine’s Today Show on Monday at 8:20am you will see my very overexcited face. I'm hoping that I can keep my cool and that everything comes out fine. So that's one exciting news, and my second exciting news is, I'm now a Swarovski ambassador. So, see this beautiful, you can't see my earrings because my air pods are there, and my necklace, so I get to wear Swarovski now and be their ambassador, which, how cool is that? That's the thing, when you're looking at doing something big, I mean, a lot of this has come from the book and I know it's, it's scary. You know? It's one of the scariest things. I haven't been this far out of my comfort zone, I think, since I started franchising. That was the last time that I was this, kind of, feeling out of my depth and out of my comfort zone, but the things that have come from it now, are the most incredible opportunities. So if there's something that you're sitting on that you’re thinking, “Gosh, I want to be brave enough to actually take that leap to take that step.”, go for it and do it because it is so worth it.

Stacey's like, “Yeah! The Today Show.” Lisa says, “That's awesome.” Awesome.

Alrighty everyone. Well, have the most wonderful weekend. As I kick off book tour, I'll be sharing a lot on Instagram storeys and behind the scenes and all of that sort of thing, and next podcast will be on how I went about publishing my book, so that if anyone's thinking about doing the same, I'll share with you all the, the numbers, how much everything cost, who I used, all the behind the scenes. So, tune in to that one. Have a fantastic weekend. Thanks. Bye.
